After more than 120 shows in 6 different countries, thursday saw us play our last show in Keek, Utrecht. Thanks to all those who came to the show and made it such a memorable evening for us. For those who didn’t, here is our last song from the evening:
We would like to extend this thanks to anyone who has helped us out in one way or another in the last two and half years. So many good memories and some great friends made along the way.
We are all already busy writing new music so keep an eye out for our new projects arising in the coming months.
We have decided that as of 24th November Goodwin Sands will disband. Our last show together will be on this very day in Keek, Utrecht. After the fantastic experiences of the last two years, now feels like a good moment to move onto pastures new. We would like to thank all the people that have helped our band in the last two years. It has been fun!
Watch this space for our new musical adventures.

Thus far on our travels, England has been spoiling us. We played for the best audience ever at Proud in Camden, totally lived it up with the great people of the Duckie at the Vauxhall Tavern in London and were treated so well by the Oxfringers present at the Honey Pot in Oxford.
Also, that famous English breakfast is working out pretty well for our energy levels; after recording three songs with the guys from The Punt Sessions in Oxford yesterday, today we recorded a new song, “Dead Air” for our video tour blog. This will be online really soon on our landings page at www.goodwinsands.nl
Ok, thats it’s for now. We are off back to work to gather money for petrol and that parking ticket we got ourselves, but first a nice little dinner here in Nottingham. Stay tuned!
Hi folks! It’s been a while since we last spoke and we are so excited to be approaching the start of our second UK tour!
A lot has happened in the last few weeks. We have been busy finishing new songs and trying them out throughout the Netherlands. Doing so, we have met some great new people and played ina few lovely, new locations. Also, we have finally found ourselves a new, nice place to practice; good news !!
Of course, the UK tour cannot go unnoticed and we are eager to share every (well, almost every…) experience we go through. Therefore we are proud to present our very own ON-TOUR DIARY! From Friday 10th until Monday 20th June you will find reports and videos direct from the road on our website.
With our old van you can place your bets as to how far we’ll get, so we’re bringing an extra guy and his camera along to capture all this and put everything on a special website which will be the home of www.goodwinsands.nl from the start of the tour.
Also, you can take a quick look at our upcoming tour dates, or the tour poster below, to see where we’re heading. We can’t wait. We’ll keep you posted on any new developments on the tour.
We would like to share this video for “Feathered Folk” with you . The video was made by our good friend and all-round trooper Vincent Perdijk, whilst in Germany last month:
We’re happy to announce more new song- and video action in the coming months and of course we’re excited about the bunch of shows we’ve got lined up here in the Netherlands and in Belgium, Germany and the UK. This is where to click for more info on these shows
We have been busy of late working on our degrees and keeping the roofs over our heads….Doing too many things not related to the band luckily hasn’t kept the ideas from bursting out of our heads, so we have still been able to write two brand new songs during the limited time we have had together as a band.
It was great to get back out on the road again last week when we headed to Bonn and Limburg to play a couple of shows and test those new songs. We had the pleasure of playing with Lingby in Bonn. Brilliant band. Do check them out. Thanks to Sandor, Mike & Alwin for their help and hospitality.
With some Germany dates planned in May, a few Dutch shows thrown in here and there in April and an eleven day tour in Belgium/England lined up in June, things are about to get busy. More details here.
We brought our friend Vincent “good driver and friend, worst roadie ever” Perdijk along to take some photos and videos of the two days. He made a video in the back of our bus of a new song entitled “Feathered Folk”. We will have this video online in the coming weeks…watch this space for more updates.
In the meantime, enjoy this brief clip from inside our bus in downtown Cologne:
After this month’s hectic but fun schedule in the Netherlands and Ireland we are putting our feet up beside the fire this month to prepare for our jam-packed winter full of shows.
We have met some fantastic people in the last few weeks, notably Michael of Origin Promotions in Ireland. We cannot thank these people enough for their help and support. You know who you are.
We are looking forward to hitting the road again. In the meantime we will be weeping over the photographs of the “Time Well Spent” tour.
First of all: a big THANK YOU to everyone present at Drukkerij Pascal last Saturday. We’ve had an amazing evening and were really happy to celebrate the release of “Time Well Spent” with you guys. Thanks y’all!
Second, we would like to tell you about the unique online videorelease of “Time Well Spent”. Our friends Vincent Perdijk and Bram Kok captured the live recordings in Antwerp this summer and made them into a complete video-E.P. that is now released on the web.
We are just back from Antwerpen, Belgium, where we have recorded our new live cd “Time well spent”. It was a long, tiring and worthwhile 3 days with Peter Acoustic. We recorded 5 new songs in a beautiful old studio in the middle of the city. Recording live was something new for all of us and we are really excited about the outcome.
Once mixed, the songs will be heading to London to be mixed before we get the finished version sometime in August. They will be officially available from 12th September, featuring a new, beautiful drawing by Irish artist Laura Fitzgerald, who also kindly donated her work for our first cd “Builders & Artists” – our paths finallycross in September when we head back to Ireland for 5 shows.
We would also like to thank Bram and Vincent for coming along for the weekend to record the whole experience and we will be posting videos of the recording sessions in the coming weeks.
With the summer closing in, we wanted to give a quick update of how things are in the Goodwin Sands camp.
Recording – In between playing regularly in the last few months, we have been busy writing new songs for our new EP, which we will be recording in July in Antwerpen, Belgium. This will feature 6 new songs and will be a live recording – something new for all of us involved. We are very much looking forward to this experience.
Shows – To celebrate this release, we will be playing as much as possible in the Autumn and Winter, beginning with a short tour in the Netherlands with our English friends, Head of Programmes. In the middle of these dates will be our EP Release Show, in Drukkerij Pascal. This will be an invite only show but if you are interested in a ticket then please email us for details.
Westward Ho! – We have been invited to return to Ireland in September for the Clifden Arts Week and we will be heading westbound for 5 shows on the Emerald Isle between 16th and 20th September. All information can be found on our shows page on this very website.
Furthermore, we have two shows in June at Kargadoor, Utrecht (24th) and Skek, Amsterdam (26th).
Thanks for reading and we hope to see you at a show in near future.
