And our most recent complete reviews (sorry, some are in Dutch):
Live review from our show at Jack Chams, Plymouth on 19th June 2011 –
“Dutch neo-folksters and strangers to the city, GOODWIN SANDS, had the crowd eating out of their hands within two songs – and if that isn’t a sign of innate goodness, I don’t know what is. Caught halfway between First Aid Kit’s earthly coo and the indie breeze of Laura Marling, the quartet rely on close vocal harmonies and understated instrumental thrum to soothe away the pains of being pure at heart. Lovely.” (Darren Johns, 24/7 Magazine)
Live review from our Oxfringe festival appearance in Oxford, England on 13th June 2011 –
“Headlining was a dutch band, Goodwin Sands. What a pleasant surprise! It has a real mesmerizing quality, and the lead singer, Anna Curvers, has a delicate and precise magnetism that has you hanging on every word. When the whole band offer backing vocals and switch instruments between songs the deal is sealed, these guys can really play. The carefully crafted compositions are executed with finesse, and as I watched the band I noticed that they’re all smiling – and so are the audience. American music blog Music is the door to the soul interview (May 2011) -
“Acoustic and intimate music always works better, and more if it’s folk, so why not taking that same sound to the studio? Well, that’s what Goodwin Sands is all about! With such an unique name and an interesting mix of dutchs and english, the result can’t be anything but a great band and they definitely have the sound I love ….” (Read the whole interview here)
“Time Well Spent” E.P. Recensie – New Folk Sounds
– Piet Karregat
Live Review from De Bieb, Utrecht – 3 voor 12 Utrecht
(Read the full review here)
